New for 2009 PDF Print E-mail

Besides the obvious and pending political changes that will take place in 2009, there are several other new things to look out for right here in South Florida:

Bubba The Love Sponge

Howard Stern fans and Sirius satellite subscribers know all about Bubba. Think of a lower brow, redneck version of Howard Stern. The Bubba The Love Sponge Show hits Miami airwaves on 93 Rock on January 5, 2009. Bubba’s morning show is already broadcasted throughout several markets in Florida and throughout the US. Bubba pulls double shifts each day as he also does an uncensored afternoon show on Sirius-XM where he recently signed a new 2-year deal. See more on www.btls.com

Spotlight International Magazine

SIM is a new fashion and entertainment magazine that is launching in January of ‘09. Spotlight International will be distributed in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties with select distribution in areas of Puerto Rico. SIM is based in Miami and features a unique dual cover design that incorporates both Spanish and English editorial. Check out SIM on the web at www.spotlightinternational.com

Digital Television

Starting February 17, 2009, all full-power television stations will be required, by law, to broadcast exclusively in a digital format. DTV is the format which most stations use already. However, televisions which rely on “rabbit ears” or roof top antennas will not receive a signal. Read more about the change to digital television at www.dtv.gov (So what happens to my back up hurricane TV? Bastards!)

January Football

The Miami Dolphins are Division Champions and no matter what happens from here on out, they made it to the playoffs after a 1-15 season. The Dolphins go on to face the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday. For more on the Dolphins, check out www.miamidolphins.com . Go Fins!
